A small insight into my life so far.
  • 1936     Born in Dunedin 10th September 1936
  • 1941-1947     Kaikorai Primary School.
  • 1948-1949     Macandrew Intermediate.
  • 1950     First year at King Edward Technical College. Class E1a (1st year electrical).
  • 1951     Second year at King Edward Technical College. Class E2e (2nd year electrical).
  • 1951     Apprentice Automotive Electrician with Wooff & Salvesen (Dn) Ltd.
  • 1955     CMT (Compulsory Military Training) at Hobsonville (Air Force) 3 months.
  • 1956     Got Married - 4 children followed.
  • 1957     Completed apprenticeship in Automotive Electrical Trade.
  • 1957     Tried rabbitting in Omakau Central Otago - outdoor job.
  • 1958     Filled in truck driving, Kanes Transport, Alexandra, then...
  • 1958     June/July shifted to 23 Helena Street, South Dunedin.
  • 1958     Started truck driving for Crust & Crust
  • 1959     6th April joined NZ Police in Dunedin - served at Dunedin Central, later South Dunedin & relieving duties at Port Chalmers, Alexandra, and Caversham on several occasions.
  • 1964     Left NZ Police and joined Radio-TV trade.
  • 1968     Moved to Cromwell Automotive Electrical and Radio & TV business.
  • 1968     Founder member of Central Otago Stock Car Club.
  • 1971     Re-married in Cromwell - extra ready made 4 children and later another of our own - then 9 in total.
  • 1973     Appointed Civil Defence 'Area Communications Officer' for Upper Clutha.
  • 1976     Took up flying at Central Otago Aero Club - Alexandra.
  • 1977     Sold up business - 24th April moved back to Dunedin.
  • 1977     20th June joined Group Rentals TV Service in Dunedin.
  • 1977     Completed flying training and passed Private Pilot Licence.
  • 1978     Passed Amateur Radio Operators Certificate examination, callsign ZL4PZ.
  • 1980     Transferred with Group Rentals to Hastings in sunny Hawkes Bay.
  • 1982     October moved to New Plymouth as Service Manager.
  • 1984     2nd May opened new service branch for GR at Hawera, South Taranaki.
  • 1986     31st March left GR and started up on own as Television Services (Hawera) - worked from home.
  • 1988     Opened retail computer shop - 92 Princes Street, Hawera.
  • 1989     moved to bigger/cheaper shop 91 Princes Street, across road.
  • 1990     Sold out business and moved back to Dunedin.
  • 1990-     Two 2-terms on Amateur Radio Association's national council, Three 1-year terms as President of Otago Branch of Association.
  • 1997     3rd December - Honorary Life Membership of Otago Branch NZART Inc. (Amateur Radio).
  • 1999     Moved to 20 Saddleview Place, Fairfield.
  • 1999     September - created purpose-built "Commodore Home Computer Museum (NZ)".
  • Currently - pottering with web sites/pages, historic stuff (various), and helping out on occasion when people have computer troubles.
