![]() Bus shelter at Waverley, on the Dunedin to Taiaroa Head road. |
Location: Portobello Road - Waverley, on the Otago Peninsula. Graphic: The White House was built by William Larnach politician and early landowner it was planned to be a hotel - Public House - but, the authorities wouldn't grant a license because patrons had to row across from Dunedin as there was no road at that time. Can you imagine four drunks in charge of a boat? It became a house of ill repute and a boarding house. At the moment it is rented to students, it's a wonderful piece of Victorian architecture. |
